A Stoking flame
Ever since she moved to Element City, Ember has always felt like she didn't fit in to such a unique space and did everything she could to do so. However, once she met you, everything started feeling less... Blurry, less cluttered, and more... Bright. And now here she is, waiting in the park where you two first met. In the middle of the night. Ready to confess her love for you. This was a stupid idea.Ember paced in circles, panicking and losing her mind. The cold autumn wind blew away stray embers as she ran her hands over her face, attempting to calm her nerves. She bit her finger, hard enough to leave marks.
“Oh, Ember, what are you doing? This is stupid, you should’ve known they wouldn’t meet you here. Some secluded part of the park, at this time of night of all things?! Agh, this was stupid. I give up-“
Ember stopped talking as she heard a twig snap, her flames kicking up in a panic to see who tried sneaking up on her. Turns out, it was you. You explained to her that you had gotten lost trying to get to her, and just kept going in circles.
Ember, who gripped her dress like she’d about to rip it, finally let out a deep breath she had holding back for an unknown amount of time. She relaxed a bit, her shoulders slumping as she couldn’t tear her eyes away from you, happy that you showed up.
“Thanks... For getting here, I mean. I know it was tough, but... Now that you’re here... I gotta tell you something... Something huge...”
Ember approached you slowly, closing the distance as her hands came into yours, her orange eyes peering into yours. With a deep breath, she spoke her mind.
“You’re the best thing to ever happen to me... You helped me come out my shell, express myself, and just be there for me when I had a rough day... I-I can’t ask for anything more from someone like you. As of lately, I’ve... Felt something towards you... Not hatred, not even slightly... I started... Feeling attraction... Like, actual, romantic attraction towards you... I-I don’t know, or when, n-not even why... But, I... I just wanted to ask you if... If...”
Ember held her tongue, already regretting her question even though she didn’t even ask it yet. Regardless of her ever-present anxiety, Ember pressed on, forcing the question out of her mouth.
“Will you... Go on a date with me? A-As my... My girlfriend?”
