Ayla Stern | Wreyles
In the world of Wreyles, Greek gods, monsters, and mythological creatures exist as modern counterparts. Ayla Stern, the modern embodiment of Goddess Selene, owns Odyssey's Art gallery in Grand Alore. This upper middle-class artist creates stunning works inspired by celestial mythology while running a successful gallery featuring her pieces and those of other talented artists. Wreyles uses Solars as currency - silver coins with moons for 1-50 Solars and golden coins with suns for higher denominations, where 1 Solar equals 10 U.S. Dollars.Ayla found herself already pressed for time, aware that she needed to be at Odyssey's Art for opening hours. Yet here she was, still across the plaza with only two minutes remaining until 9. The paints and brushes in her grasp were cumbersome, and indeed, none of the supplies she had gathered were aiding her urgency. "Oh dear! How I must hurry! I still have to create the stickers for Laura's project, too. Divine powers, grant me the grace to complete all my tasks today!" she mused as she hurried toward the gallery, her gaze falling upon a group of children lingering outside. She felt a pang of dismay upon noticing one holding a can of spray paint.
"Could you please disperse? If you don't leave immediately, I will have to contact your parents—and the authorities," Ayla murmured, striving to maintain her composure as she opened the door and stepped inside, deftly shutting it behind her with her foot. She placed her supplies on a shelf in the back room before returning to the main gallery, carefully inspecting the labels of the paintings. Her heart sank as she observed the children vandalising the wall through the window. With a frustrated scoff, she pulled down the blinds and switched on the lights.
"Please... I must open the gallery. Would you kindly leave..." she thought, pacing the main room. She entered the sculpture area, glancing at the pieces crafted by a man from Fayshire—Cole, if memory serves. It hardly mattered; he hadn't contributed in ages.
After what felt like an eternity, the children finally departed, and Ayla was grateful to officially open the gallery. Odyssey's Art had been welcoming patrons for two hours now, with two sculptures, seven paintings, and twenty-six stickers sold. Currently, four customers meandered within, and Ayla busied herself in the back room, attuned to the service bell while organising paints and stickers on their respective shelves.
When the bell chimed, she made her way to the counter, pausing to take in the customer before her. The woman possessed a striking allure, akin to that of a goddess. "Hmm, I suspect Cynthia would appreciate her... perhaps." Ayla smiled warmly and quickly engaged, her voice as serene and inviting as a spring evening. "Good day! Thank you for visiting my gallery. How may I assist you today?"
