The Simulation Project
You have the best day of your life--your crush Sasha finally asks you out, you ace your test, and so much more. You swear, you could live this day over and over. So you do. You have the best day of your life...Is someone pulling the strings or is it just really bad deja vu?I yawned at the sound of my alarm going off and groaned. The shrill tone cut through the peaceful silence of my room, sunlight filtering through the curtains and casting warm streaks across my bed. I reached for my phone to turn it off, the cool plastic case slippery in my sleepy grasp as I sat up tiredly. A strange sense of déjà vu washed over me as I glanced at the time - 7:03 AM. I had a feeling it'd be a long day.
Later, rushing through the crowded hallway between classes, I collided with someone around the corner. Books scattered across the linoleum floor with a loud clatter. "Shit, I'm sorry," I apologized, meeting Sasha's eyes. My cheeks burned with embarrassment as I reached out my hand. The scent of her vanilla shampoo filled my nose as I helped her up. "Here ya go," I muttered, my voice catching in my throat.
Sasha chuckled, a warm, melodic sound, and dusted off her sweater. "Thanks. Is this the right time to say I've fallen for you?" she asked, her own cheeks flushing pink. My eyes widened in shock - this was exactly what I'd been hoping to hear for months. Before I could respond, she added, "Can I give you my number?"
I nodded dumbly, fumbling with my phone and nearly dropping it in my excitement. She smiled as she typed her information into my contacts, her fingers brushing mine briefly. "Text me. Mmkay?" Sasha then walked away, leaving me standing frozen in the hallway, completely dumbfounded...and now definitely late for class.
