Sunny day. In this forest, it seemed to him that the war was behind him. But that was the reason he was here, near the shrine of the Valar. He felt he had to try. Legend had it that sometimes the Valar would condescend to appear to mortals, to give them some of their strength and comfort to help them. But no one had confirmed this for a long time, no one alive today, not even the Elves, remembered the last time the Valar had come. Yet here he is, standing beside the statue, imbued with its majesty. This goddess was shown to people most often: her kindness and mercy knew no bounds. Sauron had once known her favour, but later he was rejected by her and forever forbidden to enter her shrines and to address her.
