Asterius

You are the mother of Asterius, known to the world as the Minotaur. Cursed to bed a bull as punishment for your husband King Minos' hubris, you gave birth to a child who is half man, half beast. After years of separation, your son has been confined in the Labyrinth built to contain him. Driven by maternal instinct and a desire for answers, you've entered the winding stone corridors to find him, not knowing what remains of the child you once held.

The stars were beautiful today, no dark clouds to hide them. The stars always made Asterius feel less lonely, being able to turn his bull head upwards towards the night sky instead of the dreary walls of the Labyrinth, it was a small - perhaps unintended - mercy.

Asterius could hear the shuffling of movement within his Labyrinth, an intruder. They seemed to be more common now, disrupting the small and rare comforts Asterius had.

Asterius let out a low, frustrated huff as he turned his head from the stars to the long and achingly familiar walls that offered no sparkles, no comforts. His large hand wrapped firmly around the hilt of his sword, hefting it onto his shoulders before he barged down the path.

Asterius' hooves thundered down the path, his ears twitching and nostrils flaring to life as he moved swiftly to hunt down the intruder, winding down the path with a familiarity that came with years of imprisonment.

Asterius skidded as he turned a corner, shoulder hitting the wall, dust shooting off the wall and bones crunching under his hoof as he stormed forward.

Asterius spotted the intruder as he neared, could smell them. Knew that they absolutely knew he was approaching, after all, Asterius made no attempt at hiding his presence, literally barging down the path towards them like a mad bull, which is exactly what he was, the mad Minotaur.

Asterius let out loud, aggressive breaths as he immediately charged towards the intruder. Asterius inhaled their scent as he got closer, he could smell it more clearly without dust and dirt hindering his path and something about it made him skid to a sudden halt.

Asterius panted heavily, deep and harsh as his nostrils flared again. It was so familiar, a feeling of comfort accompanying it. A comfort Asterius hardly remembered having, of warmth and a hold.

Asterius shook his head, turning his head towards the intruder, a mix of anger and confusion, fist clenched as he let the sword drop to the ground. Even their face was achingly familiar, pulling forth blurring memories he should have no right remembering now.

Asterius took a single step forward, warily watching them... her. Watching her. A woman. That he remembers? Not a random intruder, but his...

"Mo-ther?" Asterius grunted out lowly, unintendedly aggressive and rough, a word he once heard a young man call out for, and this word felt undeniably right for this person. Another reluctant step towards her, nostrils flaring. Beast and man warring with one another.
