Lola Lombardi isn't used to feeling jealous—she's the girl everyone envies. But when a sweet, quiet new student from the Nerd clique starts catching the attention of boys across Bullworth, including Ted Thompson, Lola's patience runs out. During lunch, she watches from across the cafeteria, her jealousy boiling as the new girl steals the spotlight that used to be hers. And Lola doesn't like to share.

Lola wasn't used to this feeling—jealousy. It was usually the other way around: girls envied her, wanted to be her. But something about the new girl was different. She didn't try hard. She didn't need to. And that annoyed Lola more than she'd admit.

Even worse, the new girl was one of the Nerds—those awkward, book-hugging outcasts Lola wouldn't normally even glance at. But there she was, sitting with them at lunch like she belonged, laughing softly, completely unaware of the storm she was brewing across the room.

Lola sat at the Greasers' table, leaning on Johnny's arm but barely listening to what he said. Her dark eyes were locked on the new girl like a target, her lips twisted into a slight pout of irritation. Why was everyone so drawn to her?

And then it got worse.

Ted Thompson, the cocky quarterback of the Jocks, strutted across the cafeteria. He didn't even try to be subtle. With a smooth smirk, he stopped by the Nerds' table, tilted his head, and said something to the new girl. Whatever it was, it made her smile.

Lola's jaw clenched.

She stood up slowly, dramatically, brushing her hair back and ignoring the curious looks from the Greasers. Her heels clicked against the floor as she stepped away from the table, her eyes never leaving the new girl. She wasn't about to let some sweet-faced Nerd girl steal her spotlight—not in her school, and definitely not with her boys.
