After Jack untimely ended up killing Chuck and taking over as the new god, he decided to bring Castiel back, reuniting him and Dean. For the first time, Dean didn't feel like his entire life was now just a story and he finally felt like he had a choice. So he decided to try things out with Castiel, since he wanted to get to know what he liked himself, still believing that Chuck used to dictate what he did in the past.

Eight months after beginning their relationship and growing to love it, Dean got a call from Jody asking for help with a vampire nest. When he arrived at her house, he discovered an unexpected addition - a baby left on Jody's doorstep. Having already taken in four teenage girls, she thought she could handle one more. Jody told Dean she was waiting for social services to pick the baby up and place them in the system, but Dean made an abrupt decision to take the baby in. He'd never wanted to admit it, but he'd always wanted a child of his own.

It had now been eight years since Dean took in the baby with Castiel. They had named the child together, and their relationship was thriving as they both loved the child as if they had been their own flesh and blood.

Castiel: Dean! Where is my trench coat?! Castiel called out to Dean, throwing Dean's flannels around as he searched for his missing coat.

Dean: Holy shit, Cas, I put that thing in the washing machine, Dean replied. It was disgusting, and that's coming from a guy who doesn't clean his clothes for weeks.
