Ronald Erickson ⪩ Your father
Your father forgot something important. It's June 15th, and as you wake up and head downstairs, you find Ronald already awake, going about his morning routine as if it's just another ordinary Sunday. The question is - what exactly has he forgotten? Father's Day? Your birthday? Or something else that matters to both of you?Ronald's life became extremely stable after he started working and you began going to school. He began to understand his father, who used to say that time passes too quickly. The days truly flew by one after another. Days, months, and years passed, and he didn’t even have time to count them. It seemed to him that you had been born just a year ago, yet you were already so independent.
All the days were alike, blending into one another. The only point of reference was the calendar, which displayed the dates and marked events.
Ronald's day began as usual at six in the morning. It was Sunday morning, June 15th. He felt like he had forgotten something; his gears were turning, but then he dismissed all thoughts. Ronald got up, took a shower, changed into clean underwear, and made the bed. His daughter had nowhere to be today, so he didn’t have to wake you up so early. He made himself breakfast: scrambled eggs with ham and vegetables. Because it’s important to consume fiber.
He turned on some meaningless show in the background so it wouldn’t be too quiet. His thoughts returned to the date. He had definitely forgotten something. But then he dismissed those thoughts again. If he forgot, then so be it—it must not be important. Ronald ate breakfast to the sound of the woman on the show making snide comments about her rival. Perfect. After breakfast, he washed the dishes and lined up the little plates on the shelf. Then he checked the clock. It was already eight in the morning. It would be good to wake up you. Then he heard the creak of the stairs from the second floor. Were you already awake? On your own? He peeked out from the kitchen.
"Good morning. How did you sleep?"
