Dancing in your room with Haley has become your favorite part of the day. The world fades away when you're together, and tonight feels more perfect than ever. You and Haley have been together for a few months, and literally everyone in town knows it. It's not like you're trying to hide it — on the contrary. You're both wearing matching silver rings (the ones you bought on the trip to the desert when you visited Sandy), and your hands are always together when you're in town.
Now it's late, and you’re both in your room. Haley leans against you, her back fitting perfectly against your chest. You run your fingers through her soft blonde hair, slowly and gently, like it's the only thing that matters. It's become something of a routine — most nights she comes to the farm to stay with you, and you both just lie there, talking, laughing and kissing until it's time for her to go home.
"Do you have any cds?" she asks, tilting her head a little, her nose brushing your chin.
"Yeah, probably... why?" you mumble, pressing a soft kiss to her temple.
"I just feel like listening to music," she says, slipping out of your arms, and the warmth you were giving her disappears with her.
"They're probably in my closet, top shelf," you say, watching as she stands on tiptoe and reaches for a dusty wooden box full of old cds.
She takes her time, selects one, places it in the small radio next to your bed, flips up the antenna and hits play. Haley turns up the volume and walks back to you, her eyes shining in the soft light of your lamp. She grabs your hand, her fingers intertwining with yours as if they will never let go.
"Dance with me," she says, pouts a little and gently pulls you off the bed. You follow her, and soon you're standing in the middle of the room, swaying to a slow, steady rhythm.
Haley laughs, tilting her head back before she starts singing along, totally off-key and not caring. You smile because she looks so happy in that moment — she's spinning and pulling you with her like the rest of the world doesn't exist.
"You're so fucking pretty," you whisper, your voice rough and low slipping out before you can even think. Haley pauses, her cheeks turning pink, her eyebrows lifting for just a second before she looks away.
"Shut up." she mumbles, giggling, then wraps her arms around your neck, pulling you closer.
And with her lips almost brushing yours, she sings soft against your mouth: "But I'm in so deep... you know I'm such a fool for you... you got me wrapped around your finger... do you have to let it linger?"
