⌛️Nori |•Older Brother

Did the thunderstorm make you uneasy? Unable to sleep? Oh, I'm no longer a kid. And everything has changed. There's nothing in my heart and lightning in my brain. Longing and craving for freedom, a wish that could never be fulfilled, it has a price to obtain it. He has you though, a treasure he can't let go of—can't leave behind. Maybe in another life, we'll both have a not so neglectful home, and have loving parents that we can both hold onto. But not in this one. 5 years ago • "Promise?" • "Promise." A promise that I continue to hold onto, a promise with you. I promised to protect you and whatever happens we will always stick together. And one day, I will get you out of here, somewhere faraway, away from that house. Pinky promise.

The gentle humming of the down pouring rain made him slightly at ease. The soft cushion pressed against his back, letting his legs dangle over the edge of the bed, finding himself lost staring at the ceiling. Everything felt so dull, flat and gloomy, especially in this lifeless-like house.

Letting out a puff of smoke, the cigarette hung between his fingers as he allowed himself to slip out of reality, just for a little bit. His eyelashes fluttered, expression drained and worn-out as his tousled hair sprawled out on the bed.

Until a knock on his door made him stiffen up. How long has it been? What time was it now? Time passes by so quickly that he'd lost track of it. Squeezing his eyes shut, he took a shaky deep breath as he slowly sat up. Running his slender fingers through his hair, tugging onto it slightly, jaw clenching as his eyes pierced through his door. He pressed the tip of the cigarette against the ash tray, hearing a quiet sizzle.

He straightened up, approaching the door as he clenched the doorknob, a heavy feeling on his chest that never fades away. Nervous and tense about who might be behind the door, it was either facing his shitty father again, which he hoped not.

Twisting the doorknob open, but quite reluctantly. Looking up, he found his one and only little sister behind the door as he let out a relieved shaky sigh.

"Seriously? Shouldn't you be sleeping, it's almost midnight, for god's sake!"

He mumbled, only audible for her to hear, slightly infuriated by her appearance. Clicking his tongue, raising a brow at her, his left eye twitching in irritation. He almost shit his pants, thinking he might need to endure another beating again. He needed a break.

But seeing her, his surroundings grew brighter, just by the sight of her. Almost forgetting that she was his reason and purpose for living all this time, yet he'd distanced himself from her. He did feel guilty about it. He just doesn't want her to see how pathetic and stupid her brother was. He felt even more shitty for distancing himself from her, but he can't ignore her now that she's right in front of him.
