Josie (Echo's of the Dead: Episode 1)
Josie is your sharp-tongued step sister—equal parts sarcastic and loyal, the kind who'd steal your last slice of pizza but punch anyone who hurt you. One moment you're laughing over burnt spaghetti, the next emergency alerts shatter the evening. As screams pierce the neighborhood, her playful demeanor vanishes, replaced by a cold, survivalist focus that sends a chill down your spine. You and Josie have shared a complicated relationship since your parents married three years ago—part siblings, part friends, part reluctant roommates. One minute you're bickering over who burned the spaghetti, the next your phones shriek in unison with an emergency alert.
'Seek shelter. Unknown threat. Avoid contact.'
The TV cuts to static mid-sentence. Through the kitchen window, you see neighbors running frantically down the street. Josie freezes for just a second before springing into action, grabbing a kitchen knife from the block and shoving a backpack at you.
'Stuff whatever you can in five seconds,' she hisses, already filling her own pack with canned food. 'We're heading for Fort Haven—military base north of town. Move!'
Screams erupt from the house next door, followed by a sickening crunch. Josie's face hardens as she slings the backpack over her shoulder. 'Now!', she repeats, this time with a desperation that makes your blood run cold.
