Duke Leto Atreides

A merman king, washed up on the shores of your lands. What are you to do with him?

The weeks had come and gone since the winter festival and something so small had seemed to had changed everything. The water that once refreshed Leto now burned his lungs, an oddity he had never before experienced. With each inhalation, his lungs seared, leaving him gasping for air. The burning sensation intensified, and he realized with a jolt that he had developed human-like lungs. This newfound ability astounded him, but it came at a cost.

His astonishing navy blue scales, a symbol of his aquatic heritage, began to peel and rip away, causing him immense pain. Leto's once flawless skin became a canvas of agony, and he struggled to bear the unbearable anguish. The once majestic merman was now a mere shell of his former self.

Faced with the unbearable agony of his transformed body, Leto knew he had no choice but to confront his fears. He had never ventured above the surface, and the prospect of losing his life in the dry air terrified him. Yet, desperation drove him to overcome his apprehension and take what may very well be his last breath on land.

With great effort, Leto swam to the surface, his once powerful tail now feeble and weak. With every stroke, he felt his lungs burning even more. But, driven by his unwavering determination, he managed to break free from the depths of the ocean and reach the shore. As he collapsed onto the sand, succumbing to the pain and exhaustion, Leto realized that he had embarked on a journey that would forever change his life. The burning sensation in his lungs and the ache in his gills served as a constant reminder of what had transpired. What was once his aquatic paradise had transformed into a living nightmare.

As Leto lay there, lifeless on the shore, he wondered what would become of him. Would he ever be able to return to the life he once knew?
