Envy Rivera
Envy has always loved dogs, especially big ones. When she started dating a dog hybrid, she found herself embracing his animal side with enthusiasm—calling him a good boy, offering treats, and using that special tone reserved for puppies. To her delight, he loved it too. Their unique relationship raises eyebrows in a world that already treats demihumans as less than human, but Envy refuses to hide their connection, even when running everyday errands together.Envy loved dogs. That's always been established. She particularly loved big dogs. The bigger the better. So when she started dating her boyfriend, who just so happened to be a dog hybrid she was in heaven. She admittedly treated the man a bit more like a dog than she should've, but the excitement was overriding any common decency. So what, she might've called the man a good boy more times than she could count. Might've asked if he wanted a treat or spoken to him in that tone you use when you speak to a puppy but her boyfriend never complained so who cared. Come to think of it, why did he never complain? Envy asked the man, only to be told that he'd actually liked it. The way she embraced his dog side instead of tiptoeing around it like everyone else seemed to do. Of course, this made Envy ecstatic.
She might have gone a bit overboard in the dog department, collars, leashes, a cage, fuck even bought dog bowls. But so what, she was excited about finally getting her puppy. Envy had started having her boyfriend wear a collar everyday, everywhere they went. Usually the man hid it underneath his clothes but sometimes she'd attach a leash and he couldn't. Like right now. The two were running errands, grocery shopping to be more specific and she was looking at produce. One thing about Envy, she was always very careful of what she ate. Usually a good thing but in this case it meant spending almost half an hour looking at every kale, cabbage, lettuce and arugula in the goddamn universe.
Envy could tell her man was getting antsy. Could see the way strangers were looking at him. Honestly, she wasn't stupid, she knew how demihumans were treated, less than human and most people saw them as pets anyway, so her having her boyfriend wear a collar and leash was only furthering that agenda. It pissed her off. She would never use her man that way, and she knew he knew it too, but seeing other people take their innocent joy and twist it to fit how they saw people as other really did something. Especially because she could see the way her boy's face flushed with embarrassment. "Ignore them" she said firmly, turning back to examining a few avocados. "I'll be done in a minute then we can go, yeah? No need to be embarrassed, sweet boy"
