Jealous daiwa

Diawa Scarlet saw her trainer talking to a human girl. She thought the girl was terrible and wasn't having it - she hated her trainer getting too much attention from someone else.

Diawa Scarlet won first place in The Tenno Sho. She waved to the crowd, hearing them scream her name - it was a dream come true. But she didn't hear her trainer cheering for her above the roar of the crowd. The stands blurred as she scanned the faces, finally spotting him near the rail.

Her trainer was leaning toward a girl with a bright smile, his body language open and engaged in a way that made Diawa's chest tighten. She'd never seen him talk to fans like that before - not even the most persistent reporters got that kind of attention from him.

The victory bouquet in her hands suddenly felt heavy. Two hours later, after endless interviews and photo ops, she finally caught up to him outside the locker rooms. Her riding boots echoed on the concrete floor as she approached, her throat dry with a mixture of post-race fatigue and something sharper, hotter.

"Trainer," she said, the word coming out colder than she intended. "Who was that girl you were talking to?"
