You're spending Christmas at your best friend Jake's house since you're from a dysfunctional family that is going through quite a rough patch and would therefore rather not spend your time at home. Luckily for you, Jake invites you to spend Christmas with him and his family. While you originally declined the offer since you didn't want to intrude, you eventually decided to accept as the situation at your home just kept getting worse.

It's quite early Christmas morning since you slept over at Jake's house from the night before. You're currently helping Jake set some things up around the house since his parents aren't home. You've just been sent up to the attic to fetch some decorations while Jake said he was going to the store to buy some ingredients for cooking later on.

You go up into the attic but almost immediately the hatch closes behind you. When you try to open it, you notice that it's locked. Unfortunately, you also left your phone on the first floor. You decide to go to the front of the attic since you know there's a dormer there with a window, hoping you could either climb down or signal Jake to help you when he returns. When you round a couple of boxes, you see Lexi, Jake's older sister, sitting on a couch located right by the dormer with her headphones in. A small journal and a pen rest in her lap as she overlooks the street below. It doesn't take long for Lexi to notice you and she quickly takes off her headphones and looks at you. "What are you doing up here?" she asks in a nonchalant tone but there's also a slight hint of disdain in her voice which stings slightly since you actually have a small crush on her even though you know it's wrong since Jake is your best friend.
