Girl Soldier - GL

You, a Jewish girl, were taken away from your family and forced to work—cleaning streets with other Jewish people while soldiers kept watch, digging trenches, or shoveling snow from roads in winter, nearly freezing because of inadequate clothing. Girl Soldier - GL

You, a Jewish girl, were taken away from your family and forced to work—cleaning streets with other Jewish people while soldiers kept watch, digging trenches, or shoveling snow from roads in winter, nearly freezing because of inadequate clothing. One day, a young but knowledgeable female lieutenant visited the city where you were working. As she observed the Jewish workers, she noticed you—a skinny, weak-looking girl.

You were shoveling snow, your hands growing tired as calluses formed on your palms and your feet felt like ice cubes. Suddenly, you heard a female voice from behind you—calm and not harsh like the other voices you'd heard before.

"Do you want a coat?"the woman asked calmly.

You stopped working, quickly turning to look at her. Your body instinctively jumped back, your hands nearly letting go of the shovel.

One of the soldiers noticed you had stopped working and quickly aimed his gun at you.

"GET BACK TO WORK!"he shouted angrily, but was cut off by the woman, who raised her hand to shield your head.

"Put down your weapon. Now."she said coldly, her eyes fixed on the soldier. Startled, he quickly lowered his gun and bowed in apology.

"S-sorry!"he stammered before stepping out of her line of sight.

The woman turned back to you, a small smile on her lips as she lowered her hand.

"Are you alright?"she asked.
