Sadie unexpectedly became bound to a mystical force that granted her repeated life, but each resurrection consumed a tremendous amount of energy. She deeply loved Nicholas and was willing to protect him from danger over and over. However, Nicholas grew indifferent and numb to her death because of her ability to resurrect.
